This Valtellina Superiore comes from Nebbiolo grown in two prestigious areas: Sondrio (Grumello) and Teglio – Soma Sassa. Vineyards lie between 500 and 650 metres altitude, with full southern exposure. Soils are sandy, derived from the decomposition of granite rock during glacial retreat—poor, draining and mineral-rich, ideal for producing refined and long-lived Nebbiolo. Average yield: 55 q/ha. Guyot training. Harvest in mid-October, exclusively by hand. Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca). Winemaking: De-stemming and gentle crushing. Around 15 days of maceration in stainless steel with double daily pump-overs. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Native yeasts only, to preserve authenticity and territorial character. Ageing: 20 months in large 20-hl oak casks, followed by 6 months bottle ageing. Limited production: 2788 bottles, 20 magnums, 6 double magnums. Appearance: Bright, recalling the classic colour of high-altitude Valtellina Nebbiolo. Nose: Blueberry, fresh plum, violet and light mineral notes. Refined, elegant and expressive. Palate: Complete and balanced from the first sip. Good structure, fresh tension and long persistence. Harmonious tannins and a clean, territorial finish.
