Walter Menegola's Riserva is made from Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grapes grown on terraced vineyards located between 400 and 600 meters above sea level, facing south and southwest, in the heart of Valtellina. The vineyards, supported by dry-stone walls and immersed in a unique Alpine landscape, rest on sandy, skeletal soils resulting from granite disintegration, which give the wines elegance, finesse, and a distinct minerality. The Alpine climate, characterized by wide temperature ranges and constant ventilation, favors slow and even ripening, preserving freshness and aromatic complexity. The vintage was balanced and of excellent quality: the mild spring and stable summer allowed for complete ripening of the grapes, guaranteeing harmonious, concentrated, and long-lived wines. Grape variety: Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) 100%. Winemaking: Manual harvest with selection of the finest bunches. Traditional fermentation in stainless steel with maceration on the skins for approximately 20 days and gentle pumping over. Aged for 24 months in oak barrels of varying capacities, followed by bottle aging for at least 12 months. Appearance: Intense and brilliant garnet red. Nose: Complex and deep, with notes of ripe cherry, red fruits in alcohol, dried violets, sweet spices, tobacco, and light balsamic and mineral hints. Palate: Structured and harmonious, with dense and velvety tannins, balanced acidity, and a long finish. The palate is broad, elegant, and refined, with a warm and mineral finish.
